The latest 2017 recording by the players of the 2015 Grammy Award-winning Boston Early Music Festival is a collection of vocal works by Italian Baroque composer Stefani. Stefani, who was also a clergyman, did not limit his works to religious music alone, but also included a wide variety of operas, plays, and chamber cantatas. Although there are autographs of his operas, they are rarely performed today, and only a few cantatas and duets, such as the ones included in this album, are known. The sweet Italianate melodies and the French tastefulness of the music are all full of joyful and uplifting feelings. The lively singing of the young singers is very attractive. Naxos Japan
