The best of Sell's Mozart, including the "Posthorn," which has been called the greatest masterpiece of the stereo LP era, is condensed on two CDs in a tight and elegant package. The two CDs include Sell's masterful performances of Mozart orchestral works and concertos other than the symphonies that he left for the Cleveland Orchestra and Sony Classical. Sell's interpretation of Mozart is not a leisurely portrayal of Viennese elegance, but rather a powerful intention to reveal the true nature of Mozart by stripping away the pretense and going deep into the essence of the work. The "Posthorn," recorded the year before his death, is considered one of the best recordings from the LP era. The tempo is fast throughout, and the delicate, elegant nuances and clear sound are consistent throughout the entire work. The "Eine Kleine" is the quintessential example of the duo's crisp, precise, and three-dimensional expression with clear lines.
