Even at this early stage, his interpretation, technique, and expressiveness were fully developed, and his music was already mature. In particular, Chopin’s Piano Sonata No. 3, Schumann’s “Symphonic Etudes,” and Prokofiev’s “Romeo and Juliet” bring to the fore the delicate, pictorial narratives hidden within the works, capturing the listener’s heart. Furthermore, what is most impressive about Edelman’s playing is his exquisite rubato. This demonstrates its true value not only in Chopin but across a wide range of works, serving as a major factor in the piano’s rich, singing quality. He states, “I want to cherish the quality of each individual note and let the piano sound as naturally as possible,” and these four CDs are indeed filled with a uniquely natural, singing quality.
