Junko Kakihara

Description:

Junko Kakihara, who studied in Holland, makes her full-length CD debut Junko Kakihara's first CD release. In Handel's time, the recorder was all the rage in London, a major music market, and he also left behind some masterpieces for it. The six sonatas recorded here are considered to be among the most important of his works, and each differs in key and musical structure, evoking a variety of emotions, including joy, anger, sorrow, and pleasure. Each piece is written in a relatively simple, clear, and familiar manner, but it contains dramatic developments reminiscent of scene changes in an opera, and at times it is very moving, and at other times it is soothing and warm. For this recording, instruments made by Fumitaka Saito, a leading instrument maker in Japan, were selected to match the music, based on the famous instruments made by Bressan and Stainsby, who were also master craftsmen in London at the time. The recording was made by Masao Mineo, who is well known for his recordings of ancient music. Junko Kakihara was born in Tokyo, and began studying piano at the age of 4 under the late Kazuki and later Yayohi Kitauri. She met a music teacher who loved the recorder at an elementary and junior high school in Suginami Ward and at a metropolitan high school in Nerima. While a student at Kunitachi College of Music, he studied recorder under Shigeharu Yamaoka. After graduation, he studied harpsichord, basso continuo, and chamber music at the Royal Conservatory of Music in Den Haag in the Netherlands under Ricardo Kanji. After returning to Japan, he has been giving concerts in various places. He is a part-time lecturer at Kunitachi College of Music and a lecturer at Senzoku Gakuen School of Music. Regulus
