Todd Rundgren has been a driving force in the rock scene for over half a century as a singer-songwriter, guitarist, and producer. While he has created numerous masterpieces, including *Hello, It’s Me*, he is also highly regarded as a renowned producer who has worked on countless albums by artists such as Grand Funk Railroad, XTC, and Meat Loaf. After a four-year hiatus from his solo career, he moved from the East Coast to California to record his 1989 album *Nearly Human*. This ambitious album was born from studio live sessions featuring a host of guest musicians, and one of the early highlights of the U.S. tour conducted to promote it was the performance recorded on August 6, 1989, at *The Ritz* in New York—which is included on this release. Based on a rare 24-track master recorded for FM radio broadcast, renowned engineer Stephen W. Taylor has created a new mix that vividly recreates the breathtaking performance by the 10-piece band and the excitement of that era, making this the definitive live album that every fan must own.
