Bob van Asperen, Leonhardt's younger brother, is one of the world's leading harpsichordists in the Netherlands today. In recent years, he has been active in discovering and recording the works of Louis Couperin and Froberger, and his last major recording, Bach's "Technique des Fugues," was a big hit. His latest album is a program on Rembrandt van Rijn, one of the greatest painters of the Dutch Baroque period, who will celebrate the 350th anniversary of his death in 2019. Asperen, a native of Amsterdam, is the ideal performer to record this special program. He plays keyboard works, some of which Rembrandt probably heard during his lifetime, on a rare harpsichord from the collection of the National Museum of Amsterdam, which holds many of Rembrandt's important works.
