Description:

Clarinetist Deirk Altmann, born in Germany in 1965, has been active worldwide as principal of the Stuttgart Radio Symphony Orchestra since 1985 and as a member of the SWR Symphony Orchestra since 2016, as well as a soloist and popularizer of chamber music contemporary music. As a member of the Ludwig Chamber Players, he frequently visits Japan and has gained many fans in Japan for his great technique and musicality. Altmann is also known for his use of instruments made by the Japanese company JOSEF, and his new works include two Mozart works for clarinet, which he performed with one of Japan's leading conductors, Masato Suzuki, and his own orchestra, a group of like-minded members. The concerto includes two beautiful songs that are often performed on the clarinet. The Clarinet Concerto is played on a Cembalobau Merzdorf pianoforte as a bass continuo, as was the custom at the time of composition.
