French accordionist Felicien Brût and the Hermes String Quartet. Born in Auvergne in 1986, Brût is a virtuoso French accordionist and musette player who has been pursuing the functions and possibilities of this instrument to bring out new works. Here are original compositions by the young French composer Thibault Perrine, as well as arrangements for accordion and string quintet of works by Prokofiev, Gershwin, and Piazzolla. The works are from Russia, the United States, and South America, where the accordion has taken root in different forms. The musette by Breu is full of Parisian spirit, and Gershwin also surprises us with his versatility and expressiveness. The Hermes String Quartet's lively backup also makes for a superb ensemble performance. King International
