Beethoven (1770-1827)

Description:

Harmoniumundi's Beethoven Series Ninth by Elas-Cassad! Harmonieamundi's Beethoven Series in the Beethoven Year 2020, featuring the Ninth Symphony with Pablo Elas-Cassado, conductor, and the Freiburg Baroque Orchestra, orchestra, is now available. The orchestra is the Freiburg Baroque Orchestra. The soloists are also at the forefront of the music scene. The chorus is the Zurich Singing Academy, which was established in 2011 and has already taken the world by storm. Expectations are high. The performance of the "Ninth" was full of power, as the chorus pounded through the piece straight from the beginning. It is one of those works that can be said to be special, with various historical masterpieces having been performed, but Elas-Cassadó echoes the score freshly, boldly, and straightforwardly, as if the work had been written just now. The performance time is 61'13 (I:13:35, II:13:32, III:12:07, IV:21:59). The energetic, yet dashing performance gives the impression of the true image of the Ninth once again. The beginning of the last movement is also a "presto".However, all tempo settings are written in the score, and there is nothing unnatural or awkward here. This is a daring performance by Elas-Casado, who has not been bound by conventional conventions, but has meticulously examined the score with an open eye. The orchestration that overlaps with the "Ode to Joy" is also very lively, joyful, and brilliant. The orchestra, soloists, and chorus all exploded into a brilliant, united whole, and it can be said that this was a fresh and powerful performance of the Ninth. In the Choral Fantasy, the soloist Bezuindenhout's power and persuasiveness were so convincing that one could not help but listen to him. The ensemble with instrumental music is also exquisite. Both Bezeidenhout and Elas-Cassad's orchestration, which shines with its songful leadership, capture the sudden changes in expression and the transition from shadow to light, echoing the creativity that Beethoven put into his writing. Bezeidenhout said of the work, "Beethoven's own concert in 1808, in which he played the piano solo, must have been a great trauma for him. It must have been a kind of swan song for him to go to this concert with his hearing loss, which was already quite advanced. At the concert, the opening section was improvised, and this is probably the very last recorded performance of Beethoven as a professional virtuoso pianist. Beethoven told the audience, "This will be my last testimony as a virtuoso pianist. From now on, I will offer you pure music. This performance is a tribute by the genius Bezeidenhout to Beethoven, who was also a great genius pianist in the past, and at the same time, it is an ambitious performance that can be seen as a letter of challenge to challenge his skills. It is an ambitious performance that shows that Bezeidenhout has made further progress and deepened his skills, and that he is becoming stronger and more powerful in addition to his usual musicality. The booklet includes an interesting discussion of "Ode to Joy" by Christian Girardin, president of Harmonia Mundi. This is a remarkable disc! King International
