Description:

Pink Floyd's David Gilmour: "Luck and Strange" (Deluxe LP Box Set) "Luck and Strange" was recorded over five months in Brighton and London, and is David Gilmour's first album of all new material in nine years, since "Rattle That Lock" in 2015. It is David Gilmour's first album of all new songs in nine years, since 2015's "Rattle That Lock". It was produced by David Gilmour and Charlie Andrew (ALT-J, Marika Hackman, and others). It all started when David Gilmour, impressed by the production work of Charlie Andrew, who produced the Mercury Prize-winning indie band ALT-J, sent him a direct message on Instagram. David Gilmour describes the new and unprecedented production process as follows. "I invited Charlie over to my house. He listened to some demos and said, "By the way, why does there have to be a guitar solo here?" All fade out? Can't some of them just end?" He said something like.He lacks a wonderful amount of knowledge and respect for what I have been doing. He is very direct and not at all deflated. That's the best part. For me, it's just very good. I just don't like to be told what to do. The majority of the album's lyrics are written by his wife Polly Samson, who has collaborated with David Gilmour for the past 30 years. Polly Samson describes the theme of "Luck and Strange" as follows. It was written from the point of view of an aging person. The inevitability of death was constant. David Gilmour adds, "We were in the middle of a lockdown. We spent a lot of time talking and thinking about that sort of thing during and after the lockdown. Polly Samson also says that the experience of working with Charlie Andrew was liberating. He wanted to know what the song was about, and everyone playing on it wanted the lyrics to inform their playing, and that worked out really well." (1/2)
