Description:

In 1976, 13 years after the immortal masterpiece "Getz/Gilberto" (recorded in 1963) that defined the worldwide bossa nova boom, Stan Getz and Joan Gilberto reunited for a live reunion performance at the San Francisco jazz club Keystone Corner. In 2015, Resonance Records unearthed the recordings from the reunion live show that Stan Getz and João Gilberto held at the Keystone Corner jazz club in San Francisco, which resulted in the release of the reunion album "TheBest of Two Worlds". The long-awaited full-length album follows the 2015 release of the four-song 10-inch analog release "Selectionsfrom Getz/Gilberto '76". The live show took place over six days from May 11 to 16, 1976, with Joan Gilberto as a guest in Stan Getz's quartet, and in this album, Getz participated in the performance of only half of the songs on the album, with Joan taking the lead role. At the time, João was just before recording "Amoroso" following the release of the highly acclaimed "Joao Gil berto" (1973), and was in the process of perfecting the art of "voice and guitar". However, until now, there have been no live recordings of Joanne from the 1970s, so this is an extremely valuable find in that sense. Many of the songs are new to Joanne's live recordings. The highlights include "Aguas de Marco," "E Preciso Perdoar," "EuVim da Bahia," and "Joao Marcelo," an instrumental piece of João's own composition. It is also very important to note that "Chega de Saudade," the historic song that marked the birth of bossa nova through João's recording in 1958, can be heard for the first time in the form of a collaboration between João and Getz.In addition to its historical value, this live recording is a must-have for both bossa nova and jazz fans, who can enjoy to their heart's content the musical conversation that took place in a relaxed atmosphere. The cover painting is by Olga Albizu, a female painter from Puerto Rico, just like her work for Getz's series of bossa nova albums such as "Getz/Gilberto" and "Jazz Samba".
