A recording of Mozart's "Da Ponte Opera Trilogy" by conductor Theodor Kurrenzis, born in Athens in 1972, and his orchestra Musica Eterna. This recording is a monumental complete cycle that marks the beginning of a long-term exclusive contract with Sony Classical. Kulenzis and Musica Eterna are the musical director and the seated orchestra of the Perm State Opera House in Perm, located at the foot of the Urals in Russia (also Diaghilev's birthplace), and despite its remote location 1,400 km from Moscow, its musical richness is as good as that of the best opera houses in Europe. Kulenzis' focus was on natural phrasing, "singing in the most un-operatic way possible.
