He has served as Chief Conductor of the BBC Scottish Symphony Orchestra and the Swedish Chamber Orchestra, Chief Guest Conductor & Music Director of the Seattle Symphony Orchestra, Honorary Conductor of the Orchestra of Tuscany, Honorary Conductor of the Danish National Symphony Orchestra ( He is one of Denmark's most renowned conductors, having held many important posts, including Principal Guest Conductor & Music Director of the Seattle Symphony Orchestra, Honorary Conductor of the Toscana Orchestra, and Honorary Conductor of the Danish National Symphony Orchestra (Chief Conductor from 2004 to 2011). The Onyx label is proud to present Bartók's orchestral works with the BBC Scottish Symphony Orchestra, an ambitious concept that "brings together two or more contrasting works on one disc to demonstrate the diversity of Bartók's style. Almost three years after the release of the second disc, the long-awaited third disc is now available.The ballet music "The Scarecrow Prince" is usually performed in a version with no cuts at all, but Dausgaard adopted an unusual final version of the score with many cuts. Bartók wrote in a letter to the publisher that "from a musical point of view, and especially for the stage, these cuts represent an absolute improvement," and that this version should be performed in the future. This is the version that is most in line with the composer's wishes. The coupling includes two popular works, "Divertimento" and "Romanian Folk Dances," which are very much in the Bartók style.
