Diego Scisci, a prodigy, has been posting the possibilities of new Argentine jazz after Piazzolla with a tense ensemble that combines innovation and tradition on his own quintet. His first new work in two years as the leader of his own quintet is a piece featuring the music of Mariano Mores, a famous tango composer. Diego Scisci is a gifted composer/pianist who, along with Guillermo Crain, is at the forefront of contemporary Argentine jazz. With "TREN (2008)" and "TONGOS (2010)," he has created a new trend in the Argentine jazz scene with his highly original music that fuses tango, jazz, and contemporary music. In 2014, he released "HERMANOS (HERMANOS)" with the A CECA TRIO, with whom he has had a close friendship for a long time. In 2014, he released "HERMANOS(2014)" with his longtime friends, the Aka Seka Trio.His international profile is also rising rapidly, with "TONGOS" released on the SUNNYSIDE label in the U.S. and "HERMANOS" licensed on the Coreport label, followed in 2016 by the release of "TIMBA" with his own quintet. In 2016, he released "TIMBA" with his own quintet, which was greatly acclaimed as a historical masterpiece that displayed the possibilities of new tango jazz after Piazzolla, and at the end of 2017, he made his long-awaited first visit to Japan, fully demonstrating his exceptional talent to the Japanese audience. TANGUERA" is the long-awaited new work by Diego Scissi Quinteto. The work features the music of Mariano Mores (1918-2016), one of the most famous tango composers, and was started as a continuation of a concert on the same theme given by Adrian Ayes, Diego's predecessor. Diego says that he approached each piece differently and wrote arrangements for his own quintet.Featuring guests such as Lydia Borda (#4,7), Nadia Larcel (#2), and Micaela Vita (#2), the 12 tracks shed new light on Mariano Mores' music, sometimes minimal, sometimes orchestral in intensity.
