Prokofiev's second album by the gifted violist Wajim Gruzman features two concertos and a solo violin sonata. Wajim Gruzman, a gifted violinist with a superb sense of pitch and technique, has recorded two Prokofiev concertos and a solo violin sonata on this long-awaited new album. The Violin Concerto No. 1 is in three movements, but the movements are arranged in a slow-rapid-loose sequence. The opening of the first movement, which is cosmic and expansive, is described by Prokofiev himself as "dreamlike" and presents a lyrical atmosphere that forms the basis of the entire piece. The second movement is a complete change of pace, a kind of evergreen with a quirky sense of humor and dynamism. The third movement quietly comes to a close, maintaining the "dreamy" mood of the coda.On the other hand, the Violin Concerto No. 2, with its impressive first theme played unaccompanied by the solo violin from the beginning of the first movement, has been performed more frequently than the first, and is counted as one of Prokofiev's most famous works. The second movement, with its exceptionally beautiful melody, and the dizzying third movement played by the solo violin make this a brilliant work.
