Celebrating the 80th anniversary of the birth of British composer Paul Reed, who has composed the theme music for the BBC TV program "Victorian Kitchen Garden" (winner of the prestigious Iver Novello Award), as well as music for many children's programs, and was also a member of the English National Opera as a chorepettitor. He has also worked as a chorepetitore for the English National Opera. Reed's music is gentle, poetic, humorous, uplifting, and full of wonderful melodies and dramatic creations. In this album, a fine project to celebrate the 80th anniversary of his birth and to uncover Reed's little-known works, Philippa Davis has been internationally acclaimed as one of the finest flutists since her performance of Mozart's Concerto in D major at the 1988 BBC Proms. Pumeza Masikiza, a South African soprano based at Covent Garden and Stuttgart Opera, is one of the rising stars of today's opera world.The recording features a splendid group of soloists, including Lawrence Perkins, a veteran British bassoonist who served as principal bassoonist of the Manchester Camerata for a long time from 1974 to 2017 and has many masterful performances and recordings as a soloist.
