Fiona Grond is a popular young singer/composer in the jazz scene based in Germany. Fiona Grond is a vocalist and composer born and raised near Zurich in 1992. She showed great interest in music from an early age, initially taking flute, guitar, and classical singing lessons before moving to Germany/Munich in 2014 to study jazz singing and jazz composition at the Music University Theater. She has performed with a variety of international musicians, including Bobby McFarlin, Sheila Jordan, New York Voices, Theo Bleckman, Ben Monder, Diana Tolt, and Jen Xu. In this work, Fiona's voice functions as a third instrument, and her quiet timbre, awareness of the space between sounds, and contrasts are used throughout the piece to create a sense of power that draws the listener in.She is also closely intertwined with her band members, tenor saxophonist Moritz Stahl and guitarist Philippe Ciepeck, resulting in a delicate sound that combines versatility and overwhelming musicality. The title of this album, "Poesias," means "poetry" in Romansh, the fourth language of Switzerland, and it expresses Fiona's inner exploration of thoughts and feelings, sometimes with words and sometimes with instruments alone.
