The second release in the fourth series, “Music of Chopin’s Era,” is a “Collection of Piano Concertos” by the Polish composers Franciszek Ressel (1780–1838) and Ignacy Feliks Dobrzyński (1807–1867)! Renowned British maestro Howard Sherry conducts and performs as soloist with Sinfonia Varsovia! Ressel, whose father was a composer and who studied music under Haydn in Vienna, was a key Polish musician who, building on the Classical style, served as a bridge to the Romantic era and the next generation of composers, including Chopin. Dobrzyński’s music is characterized by a style that blends elements of the Viennese Classical tradition with Polish folk music. His “Piano Concerto,” composed in 1824, is reminiscent of the music of his contemporary, Chopin. Tokyo M Plus
