In 2021, the complete Mozart Piano Sonatas (9029.645782) and Beethoven Piano Concertos Nos. 3 & 4 (5419.726309), conducted by Tugan Sohiyev, have also received worldwide acclaim as truly ideal performances of these works. Schumann and Grieg's piano concertos are romantic works in the same key, A minor, and are often coupled on a single CD or LP, perhaps because they are performed at almost the same time, and many masterpieces have been produced by Lipatti and others. This time, in memory of his teacher Richter, Leonskaya is performing the same work that Richter recorded for the former EMI in 1974. Richter made this recording at the age of 59, while Leonskaya made her first recording at the age of 77. The elegance of phrasing with a delicate touch, and the dynamic but not weighty grandeur and hold of her unique touch, create deeply sculpted nuances.
