Description:

A female composer also honored by Schumann! Louise Farrand (née Dumont) [1804-1875], a composer who has become popular in recent years, was born in Paris and was a professor at the Conservatoire de Paris. Robert Schumann described her as "clear in outline, logical in development, and ...... Especially, it has a hint of romanticism in it, which one is bound to be captivated by." Louise began piano and theory studies at the age of six, receiving instruction from Beethoven's pupils Moscheles and Hummel, and from the age of 15 from Professor Reicher at the Conservatoire de Paris.
