Jethro Tull
Description:
Jethro Tull, a leading figure in British progressive rock led by Ian Anderson. For over half a century, they have made an indelible mark on British music history with their unique musical vision, blending progressive rock with elements of folk and British traditional music. Now, their masterpieces are being reborn with a fresh new look as Blu-ray releases…! As the first release in Jethro Tull’s new Blu-ray album series, we present *WARCHILD*, their seventh studio album—a masterpiece widely acclaimed as a turning point in their songwriting that marked their liberation from their previous tendency toward epic, grandiose works! For over half a century, Jethro Tull—the quintessential British progressive rock band led by Ian Anderson—has continued to present a unique musical vision that blends elements of folk and British traditional music to the scene, establishing a firm presence in British music history. Having released their latest album, *CURIOUSRUMINANT*, in 2025, they continue to perform energetically while also rolling out a deluxe reissue series of their past works. Now, the album that marks the beginning of this new reissue series is finally here! This new initiative is a Blu-ray album series that will reissue their masterpieces on Blu-ray. The first installment, set for release in September 2026, features two albums: their fourth studio album, *AQUALUNG*, released in 1971, and their seventh studio album, *WARCHILD*, released in 1974. Both of these Blu-ray albums feature the latest remixes by Steven Wilson in Dolby Atmos, 5.1-channel, stereo, and instrumental mixes, as well as the original quadraphonic mix from 1974, allowing fans to enjoy these progressive rock masterpieces in a variety of soundscapes. Jethro Tull’s seventh studio album, *WARCHILD*, is widely recognized as a successful work that shifted the band’s sound toward simpler, more radio-friendly songs following the grand and complex *APASSIONPLAY*, released in 1973. Released in 1974, the album received mixed reviews at the time, but it peaked at No. 2 on the U.S. album charts and reached the Top 10 in countries around the world, rapidly expanding the band’s popularity. Today, it is widely recognized as a major turning point in the band’s history and in Ian Anderson’s songwriting. While maintaining their approach of pushing the boundaries of conventional song structures, the album also marked a return to the band’s more traditional roots, and it is considered an album of paramount importance in their career.
