PURE PRAIRIE LEAGUE is a country rock band from Waverly, Ohio, formed by CRAIG FULLER and GEORGE ED POWELL, who later joined Little Feat. The first track, a beautiful pedal steel cover of Buddy Holly's "That'll Be the Day," became popular through airplay and reached the Billboard Top 40 in the US. Although the steel guitars of the band give the album a country flavor, there are medium numbers that are sweeter and more mellow than before, as well as smooth numbers with saxophone that could be called pre-AOR, making it a sophisticated yet relaxed country rock album. This album is also known as the band's best album.
