The Sapporo Symphony Orchestra's "Sibelius Symphony Series" started in the spring of 2013, aiming to complete the series in the composer's 150th birthday year. This is the third live CD of the same series. Composed after his throat tumor surgery, the entire work is covered in dark tones, and although it is a bittersweet work, it has been called a masterpiece. The brilliant "No. 5," which succeeded in creating a unique symphonic form. Otaka, a specialist in Scandinavian music, and the Sapporo Symphony Orchestra will convey the transition of Sibelius' spirit and his authentic sound through performances of these two works of contrasting character.
