You're Your Illusion I and You're Your Illusion II, Guns N' Roses' highly anticipated third and fourth studio albums, were originally released simultaneously on September 17, 1991. Despite the tremendous success of "GN'R Rise" and "Appetite for Distraction" making a follow-up album was a formidable challenge for the band, Guns N' Roses not only pulled it off, but also released two new full-length studio albums simultaneously, surprising the world. After the release of both albums, "You're Your Illusion I" and "You're Your Illusion II" went one-two on the U.S. charts (Billboard 200), peaking at No. 2 and No. 1, respectively. It is estimated that more than 500,000 copies were sold in the first two hours after its release, while the former sold 685,000 copies and the latter sold more than 770,000 copies in the first week after its release.
You're Your Illusion I includes an over-the-top cover of Paul McCartney's "Livin' and Lettin' Die," the U.S. Top 10 hit "Don't Cry," and one of their "ultimate hard rock power ballads," described by National Public Radio (NPR) as "one of the ultimate hard rock power ballads. The album also includes their signature anthem of the 90's and MTV classic "November Rain," which was described by NPR (National Public Radio) as "one of the ultimate hard rock power ballads. The song, which reached No. 3 on the U.S. Billboard Hot 100 chart and spent a total of 30 weeks on the chart, became the first video from the 1990s to record 1 billion views on YouTube, and currently has close to 2 billion views. Now, for the first time ever, Grammy Award-winning and Emmy-nominated composer Christopher Lennertz will record, conduct, and arrange a new version of "November Rain" in 2021, featuring a live 50-piece orchestra for the first time.
Disc 1 features the original studio album "You're Your Illusion I," the first time the original stereo 1/2-inch analog master tapes have been converted to 96kHz/24-bit high-resolution, fully remastered and presented on 44.1kHz/16-bit CD. The album includes the original studio album "You're Your Illusion I" on 44.1 kHz/16-bit CD. Also included for the first time is a newly recorded version of "November Rain (2022 Version)" performed by a 50-piece live orchestra conducted and arranged by Grammy Award-winning and Emmy Award-nominated composer Christopher Lennertz.
Disc 2 contains previously unreleased live recordings from London, Paris, Rio de Janeiro, New York, and Las Vegas, recorded during the 1991-1992 "You're Your Illusion Tour. All 13 tracks, including "Always on the Run (Live in Paris - June 6, 1992)" with Lenny Kravitz as a guest, have been newly mixed, and are accompanied by a 24-page booklet featuring expanded artwork and previously unreleased photos and images.
