[Born in Munich in 1983, violinist Julia Fischer began playing the piano at the age of three and soon switched to the violin, winning the Yehudi Menuhin International Violin Competition at the age of 11. She has since won all eight of the competitions she has entered, and has been acclaimed and awarded numerous prizes by various media, including the prestigious British Gramophone magazine and BBC Music Magazine. Remarkably, three of the competitions he has won have been on piano, and in 2008 he made his debut as a pianist. In 2008, he made his debut as a pianist, performing Grieg's Piano Concerto and Saint-Saens' Violin Concerto No. 3 in a single evening. For her first album on the Decca label, she has chosen a collection of Bach's violin concertos. Her dashing performance, befitting a soloist of the new generation, is pleasing to the ear.
