In September 1925, on the occasion of composer Paul Gilson's 60th birthday, seven of his students gathered in Brussels to form "Les Synthetistes," the first group of composers in Belgian music history. The members of this group, a Belgian version of the "French Six," composed and arranged original works for brass band in Belgium, where there were few symphony orchestras at the time, in search of cutting-edge music that was distinctly different from the late Romantic style. They collaborated with Arthur Prévaux, conductor of the Belgian Guides Symphonic Band from 1918 to 1945, to create modern music in Brussels. However, in modern times these repertoires have been completely forgotten. In this album, you can hear the works of six of the members, played by the local Royal Belgian Air Force Band. Naxos Japan
