Elizabeth Poston is an English composer and pianist. She studied at the Royal Academy of Music in London, and her talent was noticed early on, as the violin sonata she composed while a student was broadcast by the BBC. After studying abroad, she returned to England during World War II and became music director of the BBC European Service, where she performed as a pianist and composed music for numerous radio and television programs. She herself said that she was a composer of small pieces and did not want to write large works, and this album contains her small pieces for Christmas. This album features her timeless melodies with a familiar charm, her love of folk songs, and her great sensitivity to beautiful words. You will enjoy a feast of beautiful voices by the choir of St. Albans Cathedral, conducted by Tom Wimpenny, who is also a renowned organist. Naxos Japan
