Oxana, the daughter of a Cossack, thinks she is the most beautiful and makes an unreasonable request to Vakula, who confesses his love to her, saying that he wants the Empress' shoes. Vakula's mother, Soroha, is a witch who is in love with the devil. Vakula, who has caught the devil, uses the power of the cross to get the "Empress's Shoes," and takes the devil under her wing... Based on "Christmas Eve," one of the stories from "Dikernika kinzoku yagami" (Tales from the Countryside), a collection of folk tales created by writer Nikolai Gogol and published in 1832, Rimsky=Korsakov's "Christmas Eve" is an original composition using an original harmonic orchestration. Rimsky-Korsakov's music was highly acclaimed at the time of its premiere. Although the music was highly acclaimed at the time of its premiere, it was rarely performed due to the difficulty of staging it on stage. This CD contains the audio recording of the preceding video by the same cast.The singing lineup includes Georgi Vasiliev, a beautiful tenor with a beautiful voice, as Vakula, Julia Musichenko as Oksana, Enkeleida Shkoza as Sorokha, and Andrei Popov as the Devil.
