Description:

This album contains two of Falla's 1915 works, "Love is a Magician" and "Seven Spanish Folk Songs," in a different form than is usually known. Falla stayed in Paris from 1907 and became friends with Dukas, Albéniz, Ravel, Debussy, and others, but returned to Madrid in September 1914 at the outbreak of World War I. He was a great admirer of the Spanish composer and composer, and he was a great admirer of the Spanish composer. He returned to Madrid in September 1914 at the outbreak of World War I. Since then, he has produced a series of works, including "Nights in a Spanish Garden," the ballet "Love is a Magician," and "The Triangular Hat," all of which combine the impressionistic techniques he had developed in France with Spanish nationalist expression. Love is a Magician," known for its "Fire Dance," was originally a flamenco-like musical drama with songs and an octet titled "Gitaneria" (Gitaneria) when it was published in 1915. Compared to the 1925 ballet version that we hear today, it has different instrumentation, more dialogue, more movements, and a different order of songs. This recording features flamenco singer Maria Toledo, who dramatically revives the raw emotional expression of the original version. The coupling "Seven Spanish Folk Songs" is an orchestration of the original piano piece by contemporary Spanish composer Francisco Dominguez, which further enriches the folkloric elements of the work. Spanish-born conductor Iker Sánchez Silva, artistic director of the Bilbao Sinfonietta and music director of the Opus Lirica opera company, will play music appropriate to the album's concept.
