Description:

Shostakovich by Mayuko Katsumura, a Tokyo-born violinist active in Europe, especially in London. After graduating from the Music High School attached to the Tokyo University of the Arts, Mayuko Katsumura went to England to study under Ifrah Niemann at the Guildhall School of Music and Drama, and won numerous competitions and prizes in Europe. This was followed by her recital debut at the Wigmore Hall in February 2007, where she performed Prokofiev's Violin Concerto No. 2 with the English Chamber Orchestra. The concerto was recorded at Abbey Road Studios in London, and the sonata was recorded at Henry Wood Hall. The performance has been praised in the U.K. as "confident and of solid technique.
