Here comes the latest album by Japan's leading wind ensemble, the Trombone Quartet Zipangu. The highlight of the album is the music for Zipangu by Yuzuru Hisaishi, one of Japan's leading composers, who has composed music for Ghibli films and this year has made a splash by providing a song for SMAP! Hisaishi's beautiful melodies and minimalist music are combined to create a grand work of art. This piece will become a staple in the repertoire. Also included is a new composition by Philip Spark, a master of the brass band world. This time, the piece is a medium tempo piece with a profound and pleasant harmony typical of Sparke. With these new works by Japanese and British composers as the core, the collection includes works by trombone quartets from around the world, including Basset from France, Sellotzki from Poland, Gabrieli from Italy, Reiche from Germany, and Albrechtsberger from Austria.
