This time, Mahler: Symphony No. 5 with the Czech Philharmonic Orchestra, of which he is now the Music Director! It was this Fifth Symphony with the Frankfurt Symphony Orchestra in the 1980s that defined him as a Mahler conductor. The Czech Philharmonic also has its own tradition of Mahler performance, and this recording offers an unwavering Mahler image born of a different sensitivity to Mahler.
