Following her debut mini-LP, 222, and 2018's first album, Old Rockhounds Never Die, Odetta returns with her strongest collection of songs to date. which includes the experimental pop number "Goldilocks," the dramatic string song "Dr No.," and a radical reworking of the traditional number "Motherless Child," first made famous by her and Odetta's namesake, "Motherless Child," among others. Swansongs," a frenetic, dreamlike album.Odetta and co-producers Alex Friedman and Wyatt Bertz alleviated a production style constrained by the particular circumstances of contemporary solitude with the digital interface of remote collaboration. The album is a dynamic and powerful reflection of love and ambition, resulting in a hopeful, energetic, sometimes chaotic, but always captivating work.
