Recently best known as the co-writer and featured vocalist on Avicii’s “Wake Me Up,” he is releasing his first original studio album in about seven years, following his 2013 Grammy-nominated album *LIFT YOUR SPIRIT*. Having been active in the group Emanon since 1995, he began his career as a solo artist in 2003. The first single, “I Need a Dollar,” from his 2010 second album *GOOD THINGS* reached No. 2 on the UK Singles Chart, From his subsequent major-label debut album *LIFTYOURSPIRIT* on Interscope, the track “The Man”—produced by Pharrell Williams and featuring a sample from Elton John’s “Your Song”—became a massive hit, reaching No. 1 on the UK charts and entering the U.S. Top 10. Here in Japan, too, he has been generating buzz as a soul singer-songwriter—with “Make Way” featured in a Mitsubishi Motors commercial and his appearance at the GREENROOM FESTIVAL. His latest album is titled *ALLLOVEEVERYTHING*. According to Arrow, all the songs on this album were written after he became a father. “Since becoming a father, I’ve wanted to share my experiences through music,” he says of his first full-length album in a while. Transforming such deeply significant personal experiences into lyrics and melodies was a challenge in itself, but the resulting album features songs like “Glory Days” and “Family,” which depict rich familial love, as well as tracks like “My Way” and “Corner,” which explore themes of patience and mutual support. Since his debut, he has consistently portrayed a wide range of life experiences and emotions—from platonic love to human compassion, politics and society, grand aspirations and longings, and empathy—through his deep, soulful American soul music. However, his songwriting possesses a universality that transcends eras and genres, and it is precisely for this reason that he is able to collaborate with artists across various genres—not just R&B, but also EDM, dance, and country. His team of producers includes Jonas Jeberg, known for his work with Panic! at the Disco and Selena Gomez; Jugglerz, who specializes in reggae and dancehall; Jon Levine, who has worked with Avril Lavigne and Dua Lipa; and Matt Prime, known for his work with Charlie Puth—a lineup of producers with experience working across a wide range of genres and styles.
