Advanced Lute Art of the German Renaissance! Known as "Lautenschlager" or "Lautenzwicker" during the Renaissance, German lutenists were famous throughout Europe for their complex compositions and advanced playing techniques. One of them, Hans Judenkönig, was one of the pioneers of German Renaissance music, in which the lute played an important role. The repertoire of the German "Lautenschlager" was written in German lute tablature with fingerings instead of notes, and Hans Judenkönig published an early instructional book in lute tablature in 1523, "Ein schone kunstliche Underweisung" was published in 1523. This album combines works from the "Ein schone kunstliche Underweisung" with those of the next generation of German lutenists who were influenced by Judenkönig, taking the listener into the bourgeois and aristocratic homes of the German Renaissance. and aristocratic residences of the German Renaissance.Born in Berlin in 1991, Max Hattwig studied classical guitar and then devoted himself to playing historical stringed instruments, including the renaissance lute, arch lute, theorbo, and baroque guitar. He is a founding member and artistic director of "Due sopra il Basso," an ancient music ensemble of two singers and a lute, and accompanist for Prof. Deborah York's singing classes at the University of Berlin.
