The vinyl records are produced at MPO, Hyperion's long-time trusted French pressing plant, and cut by the Krieger brothers, renowned engineers at SST/Schallplatten Schneid Technik Brüggemann GmbH, a long-established cutting and mastering studio in Germany, in a limited edition of 1,000 copies worldwide (140g black vinyl). In addition to the classic LPs of Hyperion's leading artists (Amran, Hewitt, Ibragimova, Huff), the album was also awarded the Gramophone Prize in 1982/1983 in the category of Early- and Medieval-era music. The LP version of the first Hyperion recordings, which won the Gramophone Award for Best Old Music (Early- Medieval) in 1982/1983, is now back. Christopher Page, director of Gothic Voices, has personally revised and used the manuscripts from the Hessisches Landesbibliothek in Wiesbaden for this collection of Sequenzeia & Himnus by Hildegard von Bingen.The Gramophone Prize brought her to the attention of the world, and this performance was the catalyst for the many antique music groups that have since competed to feature the "world's oldest female composer" to this day. This is the first time that many groups of old-time musicians, including Emma Kirkby and Andrew Parrott, have competed with each other for the world's oldest female composer, and this performance was the catalyst for the revival of Hildegard von Bingen.
