This disc is released as a SACD hybrid disc on the SILKROAD MUSIC label in Hong Kong under license from the UNICORN label. Ruggiero Ricci (1918-2012) was an Italian-American violinist who was called "born Paganini. He was trained by his father, an amateur violinist, and studied with Lewis Persinger and Elizabeth Lackay from the age of seven. Her natural musical talent quickly blossomed, and at the age of 10 she gave her first performance in California, followed the next year by a performance of Mendelssohn's Violin Concerto at Carnegie Hall. In the 1930s, Rich took the advice of Fritz Kreisler and moved to Berlin, where he was trained by Georg Kuhlenkamp and Michel Piastro, and developed a broader and stronger range of expression and his own highly individual style. He established his own highly individual style.Rich's second Bach session recording was made in 1981 at St. George the Martyr Church in London. Rich owned a number of violins, but this recording features the famous instrument made by Lorenzo Storioni of Cremona in 1779. The romantic, full, and lustrous tone is impressive, and the one-take performances of each piece are also noteworthy. This is a masterpiece that shows the mastery of the 62-year-old Ricci at the time of performance. The SACD version has enhanced the realism of the instrumental sound, revealing a different level of beauty.
