The ballet "Frankenstein," a brutal drama with Liam Scarlett's polished aesthetic, was performed by the San Francisco Ballet and recorded in high definition by Reference Recordings. Frankenstein, a joint production of the Royal Ballet of Great Britain and the San Francisco Ballet. The ballet was choreographed by Liam Scarlett, who recently passed away at the age of 35. The ballet is a full-length ballet in three acts based on the novel "Frankenstein" by Mary Shelley. The original story has also been the subject of many films and plays that have told of various forms of twisted love, but Liam Scarlett's ballet "Frankenstein" depicts the anguish, anger, longing, and love spun by the doctor, the monster, and the doctor's wife Elizabeth. The gorgeous illustrations in the booklet of this recording are by John MacFarlane, who was in charge of the set and costumes for this ballet.
