Shawn Colvin and Steve Earle's first album as a duo! Shawn Colvin and Steve Earle met about 30 years ago, became fast friends, collaborated frequently, and sang together on the "Songs and Stories, Together Onstage" tour in 2014, which sold out immediately. In 2014, the two sang together on stage at the sold-out "Songs and Stories, Together Onstage" tour. Earle suggested to Colvin that they keep the spirit of the tour alive and make an album together. The band includes guitarist Richard Bennett (Neil Diamond, Mark Knopfler, and Earle's seminal 1986 debut, GUITAR TOWN), drummer Fred Eltringham (Willie Nelson, Kacey Musgraves), bassist Chris Wood (of Medeski Martin & Wood), and Grammy winner Buddy Miller (Patty Griffin, Robert Plant, Lucinda Williams) on production and baritone guitarist and producer. The album is, of course, centered on songs co-written by the two, but it also features new interpretations of the Rolling Stones' "Ruby Tuesday," Emmylou Harris' "Raise The Dead," the Nashville Teens' 1964 hit "Tobacco Road," and the We Five's 1965 hit "You Were On My Mind," blending elements of both Ian & Sylvia and the We Five's version of the song. Five's 1965 hit "You Were On My Mind" in a new interpretation that blends elements of both Ian & Sylvia's and the We Five's versions.
