＜The 50th anniversary of Helmut Koch's death The rich Bach performances of the past, based on the excellent ensemble of the Berlin Chamber Orchestra, have been revived! The latest SACD release of one of the most famous performances of the former East Germany. C.P.E. Bach's Sinfonia is included in the margins. This is the 38th release of the SACD hybridization project. The world's first SACD hybrid release of the master conductor Helmut Koch (1908-1975), known worldwide for his tasteful conducting of chamber orchestras and choirs. Koch was born on April 5, 1908, the exact same day as Karajan in Barmen (now Wuppertal), Germany, and began playing the violin at age 12. Before the war, he conducted choirs and did recording work for broadcasters and record companies. After the war, he was asked by the Berlin Radio in the East to organize choral groups, and in 1948 he founded the small Berlin Radio Soloist Society and the large Berlin Radio Choir. He also founded the Berlin Chamber Orchestra in 1945 from members of the Berlin Radio Symphony Orchestra.The Berlin Chamber Orchestra, which Koch called his "Liebe Kinder" (beloved children), was nurtured by him until his death and remains one of the world's leading chamber orchestras today. Koch, whose repertoire was centered on Bach and Handel, performed and recorded oratorios, cantatas, and concertos with the choir and chamber orchestra he founded, earning him the nickname "King of Choral Music" and respect in East Germany. His recordings were also released abroad and were highly acclaimed, winning two French Disc Awards. Koch's recordings were released in Japan from around 1970, and his popularity grew, and his first visit to Japan was scheduled for the end of 1974, but it was cancelled due to his illness. The performance is a joyful one, with the brisk sound of the winds and the fresh sound of the strings playing in lively concert over a full bass. The excitement of the rising expression is similar to the crescendo of a chorus, and one can really feel the stick of Koch, the "King of Chorus," who excelled in the religious music of Bach and Handel.The Berlin Chamber Orchestra was founded in 1945, and Koch has nurtured it with great care since then. The Berlin Chamber Orchestra, which Koch called "Liebe Kinder" (beloved children), has been nurtured by Koch since its founding in 1945, and its excellent ensemble and flexible response can be felt in this 2-CD set.
