The Kvindelige Studenters Sangforening (KSS) was founded in 1895. KSS has continued to support women's choral activities, seeking "new" music in a Norwegian choral community dominated by male chorus. This album takes its title from Vahlen's "Rain from on High," a translation of the theologian Jósa Steegman's poem by Blårson. The album features hymns from the Jeremiah Lament, poems by Kathleen Raine, Stein Mehlen, and Lucy Shaw, sonnets by Shakespeare, Paul-Helge Haugen's "Meditations on Georges de la Tour," and texts by Nordheim, Hovland, Newstedt, Kruse, and others. and 20th century works for women's chorus by Norwegian composers will be sung.
