Description:

Brian Eno, Holger Schukai (CAN), and J. Peter Schwalm's "Sushi. Roti. Reibekuchen," a rare excavated sound source, is now available on CD! An unknown miraculous encounter is back - the improvisation live performance on August 27, 1998, a quarter of a century ago, by Brian Eno, Holger Schukai of CAN, and J. Peter Schwalm, has now been released as an unearthed sound source "Sushi. The 1990s was also a time when Brian Eno approached jazz as a "new kind of music," what he called "Unwelcome Jazz. In 1998, he had a fateful encounter with a music that was closer to the jazz he had been approaching. The following year, in 1998, he had a fateful encounter with music closer to his own approach to jazz: the debut album "Makrodelia" (1998) by Slop Shop, a band project formed by J. Peter Schwalm. The two hit it off and began collaborating, completing the 2-disc set "music for Yin-Yang" in 2000, which was shared with Melodrama House, and "Drawn from Life" in 2001, which included many musicians, including CAN's Holger Shukai--but in fact, there is a prequel to the original "Music for Yin-Yang". There was a prequel. In the early days of Eno's acquaintance with Schwalm, they met for the third time at a rehearsal for the newly discovered recordings. There, in addition to Slop Shop bassist Raoul Walton and drummer Jeroen Atay, Schwalm met for the first time with Holger Schukai, a founding member and bassist of KAN. Eno and Schukai had already collaborated on "Cluster and Eno" (1977) and "After The Heat" (1978), but in both cases Schukai only played on one track, and only as a guest bassist. However, in the session with Eno and Schwalm, which is included in the archive, Schukai did what he calls "radio painting," a sampling/collage using shortwave radio and tape. Anyway, this was the first time the three of them performed live together. Moreover, the opportunity for all five members, including Walton and Athey, to perform together never came.I would call it a miraculous encounter. (1/2)
