George Martin

He joined EMI Records in the late 50's. He became the chief producer for the company's Parlophone label, and from 1962 began working with the Beatles and other British beat groups of the 1960s, including Billy J. Kramer & The Dakotas and Jerry & The Pacemakers, with whom he worked on most of their albums. George Martin, the famous producer who revolutionized popular music with 30 No. 1 songs in the U.K. and 23 No. 1 songs in the U.S., was also known as the "fifth Beatle. This four-CD anthology album compiles George Martin's sound productions before he met The Beatles in January 1962. The album features a wide range of artists including Temperance Seven's "You're Driving me Crazy," Martin's first UK No. 1 single, as well as Matt Monroe, Sophia Loren, Peter Sellers, John Dankworth, Humphrey Lyttelton, The Vipers, and many more. In addition to his work on popular music and easy listening from the pre-British Beat era and the popular skiffle of the day, or his signature work on musical comedies/comedy films like BEYOND THE FRINGE and BRIDGE ON THE RIVER WYE, he has also worked on a number of films under the name " Ray Cathode", as well as music from his own experimental electronic music project under the name "Ray Cathode". Each disc is divided into themes such as "In All Directions," "Experiments With Pop," "Comedy Surrealist," and, as Martin originally studied classical music at the prestigious Guildhall School of Music and Drama in London, "Classical Influences. As Martin originally studied classical music at the prestigious Guildhall School of Music and Drama in London, the themes are divided into "Classical Influences".
