Rei Harakami’s second album, *opa*q, has been remastered by Yoshinori Sunahara and released for the first time as a 2LP vinyl set!! *opa*q, Rei Harakami’s second album, marked the beginning of his career. Released in 1999—one year after his groundbreaking debut *unrest*—it was reissued in 2005 as a special edition featuring two bonus tracks. Regarded as a masterpiece of the Japanese techno scene, this album has long been eagerly awaited in LP format. It also features the remix “on” by iano’brien and the remix “doubleflat” by max404, which garnered significant attention at the time, particularly among clubgoers. A quintessential work of the Harakami sound—playful and bouncy—that still feels fresh even today. Just like the reissue CD, it includes liner notes by Akihito Katayose (GREAT3)!! *opa*q* begins with “glimglim,” a track that is both fresh and surprisingly sophisticated, and ends with “schwschw,” brimming with the rush of a meticulously constructed beat. With its thrilling blend of delicate melodies and harmonies, unpredictable rhythms, and unsettling soundscapes, this is the crowning achievement among the albums left behind by Ray Harakami.
