Born in Germany, Benedikt studied composition with Hummel in Weimar and Weber in Dresden, began his career as a pianist, and later worked as a conductor and composer; in England, where he settled in 1835, he was highly regarded as a composer, educator and music critic for half a century. His name is therefore called "Julius," which is the English reading of his name. His piano pieces are characterized by creativity and rich emotional expression based on his own experience as a pianist, and "Dreaming" is one of his best-known works. The other works also have charms such as effective modulations and cantabile melodies, and are written with moderate difficulty so that they can be performed by a wide range of people, from amateurs to professionals. The performance is by Niccolo Giuliano Tuccia, a native of Italy.
