Bruce Adolphe (1955-) is one of the most popular contemporary American composers, especially a lover of piano music. This album contains a series of pieces he composed in the imaginary world of Chopin, the "poet of the piano," if he were alive today. In "Chopin's Dream," we see Chopin as a jazz pianist playing the Blue Note, Chopin fused with Welsh folk songs, Chopin entranced by the night view of New York City, and many other "Chopins of the century. The "Seven Thoughts," dedicated to Grante, is an interesting collection of works that fuse profound philosophical thoughts with music. The stimulating phrases strongly appeal to the intellectually inquisitive mind. The "Piano Puzzlers," also paraphrased from Chopin's Preludes, weaves a mysterious world in which familiar melodies intertwine with Chopin's melodies. Prelude No. 13 appears twice, and its different treatment is also worth listening to. Carlo Grante, who is playing the piece, is a master musician who previously attracted great attention for his recording of the complete "Etudes etudes sur les exercises de Chopin" by Godowsky. Here, too, he plays a number of Chopin-derived pieces in a lighthearted and joyful manner. Naxos Japan
