Santtu-Matias Rouvali / Gothenburg Symphony Orchestra Sibelius (1865-1957)

Description:

Sibelius by Rouvali & the Göteborg Symphony Orchestra is now complete! The complete Sibelius symphonies by the prestigious Swedish Göteborg Symphony Orchestra and its recently appointed chief conductor, Finnish genius Santu Matthias Rouvali, were released at the beginning of 2019. The performance, which combines an unprecedentedly individualistic and in-depth interpretation with deep persuasiveness, has caused a new sensation in the history of Sibelius performance and attracted attention from around the world. The cycle, which has been presented almost in the order of composition, will finally reach its conclusion with this performance of Nos. 6 and 7. These symphonies, written in the last period of Sibelius's compositional career, are full of contemplative elements based on slow and relaxed ideas, as well as various experimental elements based on his advanced compositional techniques and ideas. The music that Loughvary has created is as lively as ever, but with a pleasantly sharpness, singing in every detail and creating a powerful flow quite naturally, with a climax that is also exceptionally magnificent. The orchestral excerpts from "The Tempest," one of the last major works written by Sibelius before he went on a 30-year hiatus, is considered to be his masterpiece and the pinnacle of his style. The orchestral excerpts from "The Tempest" are included. The performance clearly demonstrates the interest of the orchestral technique and is deeply attuned to the content of the work, making known the splendor of this rarely heard work. Naxos Japan
