Kiki of Montparnasse (real name Alice Plan [1901-1953]) was a woman known for "Angle's Violin" (on this jacket) and "Kiki with a Veil" by her lover, Man Ray. She was also a talented woman who modeled for artists such as Tsuguharu Fujita, Kisling, Utrillo, and Modigliani, corresponded with Cocteau and Desnos, performed as a singer in nightclubs and as an actress, and even made her own debut as a painter. However, the latter half of her life was full of ups and downs, and she is known to have had an unhappy last years. This CD is a tribute album to Kiki, featuring Vienna-born mezzo-soprano Albane Carrère, now active mainly in France, and Belgian composer Jean-Luc Fafchamp. The album includes a wide range of French songs from the late 19th and early 20th centuries, as well as chansons by Piaf and others, recent pop songs by Hoshi and others, and originals composed by Fafchamp on poems by the trumpeter and poet Boris Vian.In the latter half of the song, beats and multiple recordings by drums and bass are also introduced to sing about the feelings for the muse of days gone by.
