Auner Quartet

Description:

As Stefan Zweig wrote in a letter on his way to exile, "May the dawn break after this long night!" ...This is the motto of the Auner Quartet on this album. All of the music on this album was banned in Germany and Austria in the first half of the 20th century as decadent music: Zemlinsky's 1896 quartet written in the late Romantic style that marked the end of the 19th century, Webern's "Slow Movement" written in 1905, and the flow of the New Vienna School of Music written in 1943. Vélez's String Quartet No. 5, written in the vein of the New Viennese School of Music, in 1943. During these almost 50 years, the world has changed dramatically, and we have entered the darkest period of the 20th century. The Auner Quartet performs Kreisler's Syncopation as an encore. This piece recalls the era when even his music, which was immensely popular in the United States, was banned. Naxos Japan
