Celebrating its 15th anniversary, Ensemble Barockin presents a 3-CD set featuring the complete recording of Telemann’s *Paris Quartets*. The *Quadri* (1730) and *New Quartet* (1738) created a richness of timbre that was entirely new for its time through their fixed instrumentation of flute, violin, viola da gamba, and basso continuo. In the winter of 1737, Telemann experienced some of the greatest acclaim of his life in Paris, and the *New Quartet* spread beyond the musical circles of Versailles to all of Europe. This performance vividly conveys the appeal of this masterpiece, which generated such a response that 400 copies were pre-ordered within a few weeks. The performance is by “Ensemble Barockin,” a period instrument ensemble founded in 2011 by Kozue Sato, a Japanese flûte traversière player based in Germany. Marking the milestone of their 15th anniversary, this recording brings together renowned musicians from around the world, including Dmitry Lepekhov (violin) and Pavel Serbin (viola da gamba).
